What are some eye make-up tricks to make eyes look larger?

white shimmery eyeshadow in the inner corners of your eyes, even a little bit on the bottom, just in the inner creases. and then put a little on the highest part of your eyebrow arch.

it really really really makes them look biggerWhat are some eye make-up tricks to make eyes look larger?
Do light eyeshadows. Like one light color over your whole eye, then do a little bit darker...but not too dark...color on the crease.

Also, eyeliner. Not black, or dark brown. Maybe like a purple or regular brown color...and line the top of your eyelid, and then on the bottom, line half away, not too thick. But the bottom half AWAY from the nose. That also helps your eyes to appear larger. What are some eye make-up tricks to make eyes look larger?
There are lots of ways to make your eyes look larger and brighter. Here's a few:

- Underneath your eyes on the waterline, line using a white pencil. http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en%26amp;鈥?/a>

- Curl your eyelashes and apply two coats of black mascara, this will really open up your eyes.

Hope I helped xx
White eyeliner can make your eyes appear larger. Don't wear dark eyeliner, because that's what makes them look smaller. Mascara can also help make them look bigger and open them up more.
You can find great make-up tips on my website:

curl your eyelashes. tightline your upper waterline. make the eyeliner on the bottom of your eye thicker as you move out from the inner corner (tear duct).

eyelash curlers do wonders! I would try heating it with a hairdryer and then curl them!

Try clear mascara!
Maybe apply some clear lipgloss under the lower lashes if this is the effect you're after. I never heard of this and am not really sure why you would want to look like you have been crying. Please explain, maybe you would get more ideas if people knew exactly what you wanted.

How do I get Taylor Swift's smoldering eye look?

In almost every picture of her I see, Taylor Swift has the most intense eye look. It looks rather simple, but I can't seem to get a good photo of her. Does anyone know how to get the look she normally wears?? It looks like a black eyeliner/ smokey look, but I'm not sure. I'm particularly interested in the colors and application method, preferably MAC.

P.S. I'm not looking for the makeup from her ';tears on my guitar'; video. Thanks!!How do I get Taylor Swift's smoldering eye look?
Here's How:

Prep the lid. The key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes on is to kept eyelids oil-free. To do this start with an eyeshadow base (also called ';primer';). I prefer to dab at bit of MAC's 'paint' on lids before shadow application. Or try Fresh Freshface Perfecting Eye Primer.

Apply eyeliner. If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye. If your opting for a jewel-toned eye (violet makes a gorgeous smoky eye), line eyes with a purple, blue or deep green liner.

Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smoky eye look) you'll want a lighter eyeliner. The key is to ';smudge it.'; You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.

Apply light base color Again, the key to a smoky eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. I prefer a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone. I love Stila's whipped eye shadows $20. The moist ';mousse'; consistency seems to stay on forever. My favorite colors are taupe and pearl.

Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease. Now that you have the base and eyeliner on, it's time to get the smoky effect. You need a darker eyeshadow shade. Using an eyeshadow brush blend in color starting at your lash line, blending up. Make sure to blend color into the lash line so the eye liner disappears. Stop deep color at crease.

Doublecheck your work Make sure eyes match and blend color with a Q-tip if need be.

Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Tried and true mascaras (featured in ';Elle'; magazine's March 2006 issue) include DiorShow Mascara %26amp; L'Oreal Paris Volume Shocking Mascara. Elle's writer says they are the best volumizers she's tried.

Tips:

Remember to keep lips nude. When applying strong makeup (like smoky eyes or red lips) put the focus on either eyes or lips, never both. (Think Angelina Jolie: She either plays up her huge eyes or her huge lips, never both. If she did, she'd look like a clown).

For a bit of fun, try a blue or purple mascara. It will make blue eyes ';pop.';

Liner doesn't have to come in pencil form. Makeup experts know eyeshadows make some of the best eyeliners. To do this take an eyeliner brush (available at Sephora, MAC or any dept store), wet it, then dab wet brush into the dark shadow. This allows for a deep, precise line. You can also use the dark shadows without wetting brush first. Either way, eyeliner is necessary for smoky eye.

This season go jewel-toned (blue is great for you blue-eyed girls) and keep your eyes smoky but stay away from dark browns and black. Instead, go for a deep purple, a gold-brown or any of the many vibrant colors in this year.

What You Need:

Eye primer (you don't need it, but it's great for keeping shadow in place)

2 Shadows: One light, one darker

  • Which makeup brand is best for the smoky eye look?

I've seen shadow palettes for the smoky eye look at lots of places like Sephora and Chanel, but I'm not sure which ones work best. Do you have some favorites?

Thanks! : )Which makeup brand is best for the smoky eye look?
Okay here's what you do. It works great. Buy a twenty dollar eye shadow primer at Sephora ( i use urban decay potion). Then buy runway eye shadow and other cheap shadows at a drugstore. Runways eyes is 7 dollars and is a small palette of several different shades of one color. Buy the darker palette. It has several blacks, grays, and a white. It's perfect for a smokey eye. It has a little sparkles and gives sort of a metallic look. Buy other cheap good looking eye shadow and other runway eyes colors. The designer sephora eye primer will leave the eye shadow on all day, keeping it crease free and full and flirty. you will be classy and sexy without being slutty. It's more about technique than specific brands. Urban Decay and Too Faced have great instructions in their palettes.

Make sure you dont over do the darks and the blacks in your case. Sometimes blending with some grey will help bring out your eyes. Line your eyes with liner gel in black at the base of your lashes. Work your way up your eyelid by blending with an eyeshadow applicator or your fingertips, whichever one is easier for you. in the middle of your eyelid, add some silvery-grey shadow and put a dab in the middle. Blend outward so it all the black liner doesnt make your eye look tiny. Make sure to blend it all well, in order to highlight your features. How can i get the Smokey Eye Look?

Smokey eye look - try brown eyeshadow and brown eye liner!
Here's a video on how to achieve the smokey eye look..
Use gray and black eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara.

Start by penciling in a dark line right before your lash line with the eyeliner. Use the black eyeshadow loosely across your lids, and fade it into the gray gradually.

Mascara is optional, if you want longer and more defined eyelashes.

I reccomend MAC eyeshadow. Expensive as hell, but you only need a small amount!

Mascara : those Volumizing mascaras with the white first layer, then the black with a no-clump applicator.

How do you get the smkey eye look?

I really want to know how to get that smokey eye look

I always try and i fail how do you get it perfect?

Thanks...How do you get the smkey eye look?
    here is my smokey eye...

start with a shadow base or eye primer

black or dark grey shadow in the shape of a sideways V on the corner of the eye, working into the crease with a flat shadow brush.

lighter grey shimmer shadow over the lid with a contour shadow brush, blending into the first darker shade

silvery/champagne shimmer shadow under the brow bone and dotted on inner corners of eyes with full shadow brush

black liner all the way across top lid, slightly thicker on outer edges, and 3/4 way across bottom

sweep thin line of medium shimmer grey under lower lash line, below and slightly over black liner

curl lashes and add 2 coats of volumizing black mascara

-you can also do a smokey eye with shades of brown, purple, green... any color

stila (at sephora) has a smokey eye kit that has 4 shadows in a palette...push a tiny button and a voice speaks instructions to you. there is also a holographic image of an eye that shows where the different shades go when you turn it.

for drugstore palettes, try revlon, loreal, covergirl and maybelline. i know all of those lines carry them, but not sure of the names. avon also has a shadow quads. ';sueded nudes'; is a good one for browns, and ';smokey eyes'; is good for greys, although the greys are on the lighter side. you could also try ';fresh cut greens'; and ';vintage violets';.

good luck and have fun!!!How do you get the smkey eye look?
get some shadow that comes in at least 3 shades ranging from darkest to lightest.

    1. put a layer of the lightest from your lash line to your brow.

    2. put the darkest color on the lid, and a little farther over the outside corner of your eye, almost the the end of your eyebrow.

    3. put the middle shade in the creace of your eye

    4. and the lightest on the very top underneath the brow.

    5. blend.
Start with shadow base. Press flesh toned shadow into your lids. Using a dark liner, start in the OUTER corners of your eyes and work in, getting thinner and softer as you move toward the inner corner. Then, using dark shadow and small brush, layer and smudge over the top of the existing liner, ';erasing'; out any definite line. Then, using small flat brush, tap a little dark color on the outer lid, again smudging it toward the inner corner. Using a light shimmer and small brush, sweep some of the shimmer under the brow and in the inner corner of your eye. Lots of mascara, and you're done.
ciggrett ash, eyeliner rubed in black\grey blush\eyeshadow
I found this on YouTube. Hope it helps!
First line your top and bottom lashes with eyeliner. II usually just take an angled brush to create that same look. And I have light blue eyes so lining them over powers my own. You'll need to play around with it to see what is best for you personally. Then, use a cream shadow that won't budge to create the smoky look. I've noticed that gray looks better then black because it isn't to over powering and dramatic. Apply it with your finger from your lashline to crease, and also along your bottom lashes for a smudgy effect. (I've found that just taking the line I made with the angled brush and smudging it with a q-tip works very well and it keeps you from looking all drawn in) Finish with mascara.

Good Luck! I hope that helped.

How do you do the smokly eye look ?

    Thanks,

xHow do you do the smokly eye look ?
Your also going to need a gray eye-shadow and a white eye-shadow! I prefer to use a liquid liner across the top too:

Start with using the liquid eyeliner and making a small strait line across your upper lash line.

Next use a light gray/white color and an eyeshadow brush and apply this from the inner corner up across the lid.

Then use your darker gray color, or black if you want it to be really dark, and the brush and put a little eyeshadow on it and then tap it off (not all, just to get the excess off). Apply it to the outer corner and go along the curve up toward your brow.

To blend, apply a medium gray shade, or dark gray if your going for a darker look, in the middle so it doesn't go straight from white to black. Then use a blush brush to blend it all. You can apply another line of liquid liner.

Use the medium gray and put a little shadow under the outer corner and then a light gray under the inner. Also put the black eye pencil ';inside'; your bottom lash line. Then you can finish with an eyelash curler and mascara. How do you do the smokly eye look ?
For any smoky eye, the trick is to add layers and layers of color so that it all blends for that sultry finished look. For that you would need about 3 tones, a base, a contour and a blending color. You would also need a god blending brush. It looks easy but it does take time and if done wrong it can look cheap. A base is probably along the lines of nude and contour would be your charcoal or black and a blending color would be along the lines of highliting like MAC's pigment in Vanilla.

it really, really helped me.How do you do the smokey eye look?
Ok so I do this look ALL the time. Youd ont have to have a smokey look be super dark, thats basically just emo. haha. You want that subtle yet dramatic smokey look that looks sultry. You can do smokey look with many different colors and the eyeshadow really isnt suppose to be dramatic u want just a lil color and the rest is the eyeliner. first start of with a VERRRY light grey color shadow. VERY light. sweep that over ur entire eyefrom lash to eyebrows. then sweep a very neutral cream/white shadow on ur brown bone. dont make it straight white color. u know what i mean, nothing sparkly or really shiny, just a matte color. then blend it so u dont see where the light color starts. then take a dark grey shadow and slowly blend a little bit at a time in ur crease. its not meant to be dark just to look like shadow on ur eye, then put it on ur lash line. blend that! remember the eye color will be VERY subtle after u blend. Now take a black eyeliner pencil, i especially like rimmel londons black KOHL eye liner pencil. its like 2 bucks and u can get it at any drug store and works the best for smudging. put a thin even like on ur upper eye lid and take a que tip and smudge it just take it and lightly rub the lineback and forth so its not just a flat back line. do the same on the bottom lashes. then to make ur lashes look fuller look up and put the liner on the INSIDE of ur eyelid UNDERNEATH ur upper eyelashes. this will make ur lashes look way more full. the artists at M.A.C. do this. then take a balck eye shadow and thinly go over ur eyeliner right where ur lashes are not over the entire eye liner. then put some really black thickening and lengthening mascarra on. I like Dior Blackout the best its like 22 dollars and u can get it at sephora but i promise its the BEST eyeliner u will ever use. hope this helps
You need like a dark gray eyeshadow. Or I like to use gray and brown. And I just put one color on then another, smooth into the crease until I have it the way I want it. Also if I'm really going for that smokey effect. I start out by using black eyeliner, then the gray and brown eyeshadows. It's pretty easy, you just have to play with it.
You put on some black eyeliner then smudge it back and forth with a brush until you get the look you want. There's more helpful tips here http://www.marykay.com/bvelazquez/whatsn鈥?/a>

How can i get the smoky eye look like Angelina Jolie in ';Wanted'; ?

I have looked at some pictures but none of them are very helpful. Pleaz help! How can i get the smoky eye look like Angelina Jolie in ';Wanted'; ?
    Warmest greetings, Victoria!

In order to achieve the “smokey eyes” look that Angelina Jolie sported in her recent movie, you must select dark, neutral colors. Black eyeliner with gray eye shadow will work well for the smokey eyes appearance. First, line your eyes with a black eye liner pencil. Make sure you line both top and bottom paying close attention to lining around the natural eyelid contour. You can use concealer under your eyes with a thick coat of powder that will catch any excess eye shadow, which will later be brushed away so you don't get the dark colors under your eyes.

After you line your eyes carefully smudge the liner in the outer corners to soften the line. Then apply a thin line of black eye shadow over your eyeliner to further soften the look and create a stronger contrast. Next apply your eye shadow all over your eyelid, use a charcoal shadow or a neutral brown. Now top it off with black mascara and neutral lipstick and blush colors.

    Mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner brands/color/product/makeup application.

(preferably all drugstore brands found in canada)

    (or cheaper departement store brands)

I will pick a best answer! What eye makeup/color makes brown/orangy eyes look bigger and more defined cheap?
i have those color eyes, this is what i use:

    mascara: maybelline volum express (black)

eyeshadow: bare essentials (browns and purples)

eyeliner: CG perfect point plus (black)What eye makeup/color makes brown/orangy eyes look bigger and more defined cheap?
Try a peachy color or a light pink. that way it makes your eyes pop more without going overboard. A charcoal eyeliner would look nice with it too and just a little bit of mascara. Be sure and highlight your brow bones and the areas on the inner part of your eye and you should look beautiful :) You can try Revlon or Maybeline, they're the best. Or CoverGirl.
Hmmm well the best colors for your eyes would be a nice lavender, gold or, chocolate brown and a plus to making your eyes look bigger is always taking black or dark brown eye liner and line it on the outside of your eyes right along the lash line and use an eye lash curler before you put on mascara, I know I have big eyes and when I do that it makes them look huge!

    Hope this helped!

    Good Luck!

How long will my eye look droopy or swollen after detached retina surgery?

My surgery was two months ago, and while the redness is getting better, my eyelid still looks weird. It is swollen, heavy, droopy, lazy, call it what you will but it looks smaller than the other one because of this and it really bothers me. I am wondering if the surgery did muscle damage to my eyelid or something. I am lucky I still have an eye after the injury I had, but does anyone know if the eye will always look ';weird'; or will I ever look normal again? And if it will look normal, how long will that take? My doctor says don't worry, and I see him in a month, but I wish someone who has had this experience would tell me how their eye looks several months later. Thanks! How long will my eye look droopy or swollen after detached retina surgery?
Retina surgery is fairly traumatic. If you had trauma, then all the rules sort of go out the window. Trauma in it's stretching, tearing, pulling, response to blood in tissues, healing,...all of it is a tough road.

As I don't know what type of trauma you had, we can go over what the retina surgery itself does.

Assuming no damage to the eye itself, just a simple retinal detachment.

First, the conjunctiva is opened at the junction of the sclera (white part) and the cornea, the clear part. Some people use relaxing incisions so no tearing is done.

Then a pair of curved, blunt end scissors are placed in each quadrant...the superotemporal quadrant, superonasal quadrant, and the two lower ones and spread to gain access to the scleral surface posteriorly. Then the muscles, the four primary ones are each isolated with a muscle hook and then a large suture is placed around them. These are bridle sutures and are used to rotate the eye in different directions and stabilize it while placing sutures or placing a buckle or doing a drain to get the fluid from under the retina out.

Then the surgeon will look at the retina and mark on the outside of the eye where the little tears on the inside or other pathology are located. Once these areas are identified and marked, either sutures are placed behind them or a buckle is placed around the eye. The buckle, when tied into place creates a bulge on the inside of the eye which supports the tear or tears, and also shortens the circumference which lessens traction.

So around the eye we go. Mattress sutures are placed across the width of the buckle or band, and once the eye is soft enough, via drain or internal drain, the buckle sutures are tied into place. The surgeon then looks again to see if there's any tear missed, or that the cryo or freezing which is done around the tears to cause adhesions which seal the tear, are all well placed. If the retina is fairly flat over the buckle, and the tears are High, that part is done.

The areas are irrigated with antibiotic solution, sharp edges are trimmed, sutures adjusted, and the bridle sutures are removed. The conjunctiva is closed all the way around. Some people then put injections or antibiotics or steroids or both and after some ointment is placed, the eye is patched.

If there was a lot of blood in the eye itself, the middle chamber, the vitreous cavity will hold most of it. There may also be a foreign body..piece of wood, nail, metal, glass, plant seed or fiber....etc. which is removed at this time. A vitrectomy may be done to remove the blood and give visualization of the retinal status. Some don't do a buckle if there's a simple superior tear. After the vitreous is removed, air or gas is placed in the eye which holds the retina onto the wall. It also seals the tears. It can be used as an adjunct to a buckle, or by itself to hold the tear closed while laser or cryo irritation scars the retina to the outer wall tissues. Gas is used so that it won't absorb as quickly as air does. In severe cases, silicone oil is used so it'll stick around...forever. It can be removed later once the eye is stable.

The lid speculum that holds the lids open frequently damages the levator muscle. This muscle pulls the upper eyelid up. If it's tendon gets stretched, the lid will be a bit lower, slightly ptotic. In most people it takes about 6 months for the lid to retract back into place. In others there's been an injury and it may have to be surgically repaired.

These eyes look beat up for a few months. By 3 months or so, most look fairly normal. But a lot of people always find that this eye is always a bit more swollen, or slightly red or discolored, and the lid may not retract to it's normal position. The eye itself, if repaired, will adjust to the surgery and trauma. If all the tissues are ok, the eye will see well. In trauma, lots of time the lens is removed so the vitreous surgery or retinal surgery can be performed. Later or during the latter part of this repair, many will place a lens into the eye. And it might see well.

Have seen patients with nail gun injuries end up with a really funny looking iris, with an extra hole up somewhere which can't be repaired all that well, but see 20/20. Sharp injuries seem 'better' than blunt injury.

For instance a BB penetration to the eye almost always means a lost eye. It's not the BB, it's the contusion, the blunt trauma that distorts the tissues so much they don't recover. The eye usually ends of with a retinal detachment and may go into phthisis which is where it shrinks prune-like. If it's painful, it'll be removed, or eviscerated and a marble like implant placed. Then a prosthesis which is a ceramic eye which looks like the other eye, is placed. If done 'right' without complications, it'll move just like the other eye. But as it doesn't see, it won't maintain directional stability and will sort of look funny depending on the gaze direction at any one time.

For you, give this some more time. Most people can't tell which eye had the problem a year or so later. You are only a month out...that's pretty early. How long will my eye look droopy or swollen after detached retina surgery?

How do you create the smoky eye look?

What tools do I need? How do you create the smoky eye look?
here is my smokey eye...step by step and simple as can be...

start with a thin layer of shadow base or eye primer

black or dark grey shadow in the shape of a sideways V on the corner of the eye, working into the crease with a flat shadow brush (i use merle norman shadow in ebony and palladio flat shadow brush)

lighter grey shimmer shadow over the lid with a contour shadow brush, blending into the first darker shade (mac idol eyes is my favorite for this step, with a mark contour brush)

silvery/champagne shimmer shadow under the brow bone and dotted on inner corners of eyes with full shadow brush (merle norman shadow in sun beam with avon shader brush)

black liner all the way across top lid, slightly thicker on outer edges, and 3/4 way across bottom (avon glimmersticks liner in blackest black)

sweep thin line of medium shimmer grey under lower lash line, below and slightly over black liner

curl lashes and add 2 coats of volumizing black mascara (maybelline volum' express turbo boost 7Xs mascara in black)

-you can also do a smokey eye with shades of brown, purple, green... any color. i am wearing a smokey eye in greens right now... nile/vine duo from merle norman.

stila (at sephora) has a smokey eye kit that has 4 shadows in a palette...push a tiny button and a voice speaks instructions to you. there is also a holographic image of an eye that shows where the different shades go when you turn it. 30-something $$$

for drugstore palettes, try revlon, loreal, covergirl and maybelline. i know all of those lines carry them, but not sure of the names. avon also has a shadow quads. ';sueded nudes'; is a good one for browns, and ';smokey eyes'; is good for greys, although the greys are on the lighter side. you could also try ';fresh cut greens'; and ';vintage violets';.

There are two ways I do it..

    1

Use a dark color in the outer corner of your eye. Use a medium color towards your inner eye, and use a highlight at the top. Make sure you blend where the colors meet.

    2. Use a dark color on the LID of your eye only. Use a lighter color on the space between your brows and your lid, blend at the crease line.

Smokey eyes are easy, you just have to be neat with it.

    Hope this helps somewhat..

Or you can go to your fav. makeup counter and ask for a demo.
1.Lids: Dust on a black eye shadow, from lashlines to the crease.

2.Use the eyeliner brush to apply eyeshadow under the eye.

3.Lashes: Apply a thickening, volumizing mascara to your eyelashes. Swipe on an extra coat if desired

4.Lips: A clear lip-gloss will balance all the eye makeup and make you look polished. Dab it onto the center of your lips and spread out to the corners of your lips.
Dark eye liner, lots of mascara, and dark brown eye shadow

How do you get the smoky eye look?

Im having a girls night tonight and want to play around with my make up. I want to try to get the smoky eye look but dont know how.. Help?!?!How do you get the smoky eye look?
    follow these steps

    # Curl your eyelashes. Then apply lightest shade of eyeshadow all the way up to your eyebrows. Apply eyeliner on top eyelids(charcoal or grey) You will be smudging it later so don't worry about a perfect line. Make the line thick.

    # Apply the darkest shade of eyeshadow over the eyeliner line. Apply as close to your eyelashes as possible. Make this line thick, but not too thick. This will blend in the eyeliner.

    # Apply middle shade on the crease in your eyelid. You can also go back over the eyeliner, but keep it thin and close to your eyelashes as possible. (This will define it better) Apply eyeliner on your bottom eyelid then smudge the eyeliner around the bottom lid and apply the dark eyeshadow over that.

    # Last step is to apply mascara of your choice .How do you get the smoky eye look?
I always but a light colour over all of my eye, then i add a medium colour on the lid and a dark colour in the fold and mix all 3 Colours well in a circle action to get the smokey eye look.

You need to where mascara. Then put eyeliner on your upper n lower lids, n in between eyelashes if you can with a thick layer of eyeliner on the outer side of your upper eyelid. then smudge this like eyeshadow. Not too far up the eyelid, n try not to do it underneath the eye unless its just lining the rim, as this just makes you look tired or drug-fcked. Clean/neaten extra smudges with a cotton bud or cue tip.

here is my smokey eye...step by step and simple as can be... (feel free to substitute lighter shades for the ones i mention)

start with a clean canvas...concealer, foundation, and/or powder in place. apply a thin layer of shadow base or eye primer to the entire lid (urban decay primer potion, mary kay eye primer, merle norman automatic shadow base, or mac eye primer)

black or dark grey shadow in the shape of a sideways V on the corner of the eye, working into the crease (i use merle norman shadow in ebony and a palladio flat shadow brush)

lighter grey shimmer shadow over the lid, blending into the first darker shade (i use mac shadow in idol eyes and a mark contour brush)

silvery/champagne shimmer shadow under the brow bone and dotted on inner corners of eyes with full shadow brush (i use merle norman luminous shadow in sun beam and an essence of beauty shader brush)

black liner all the way across top lid, slightly thicker on outer edges, and 3/4 way across bottom (avon glimmersticks liner in blackest black)

sweep thin line of medium shimmer grey under lower lash line, below and slightly over black liner

curl lashes and add 2 coats of volumizing black mascara (maybelline volum' express turbo boost 7Xs mascara in black)

-you can also do a smokey eye with shades of brown, purple, green... any color.

here are the shades i recommend from a few different brands for the basic black/grey....

-from mac: black tied, charred OR idol eyes, and shroom

-from lancome: the new black, style section OR volcano, and off the rack

-from merle norman: ebony, zinc OR stay steel, sun beam

-from avon: night sky, steel OR slate, iced silver

stila (at sephora) has a smokey eye kit that has 4 shadows in a palette...push a tiny button and a voice speaks instructions to you. there is also a holographic image of an eye that shows where the different shades go when you turn it. $40

also available at sephora are hard candy and smashbox. hard candy makes a shadow quad called ';techno'; that sells for $28, and smashbox makes a shadow trio called ';twilight'; that sells for $30. both are good for grey smokey eyes.

for drugstore palettes, try revlon, loreal, covergirl and maybelline. i know all of those lines carry them, but not sure of the names.

always keep lips light... glossy nudes are great with sexy smokey eyes.
She does a really good tutorial!

Yup, its really hard to do, my advice is go to a MAC make up counter or another make up counter, and they'll help and show you how to do it, since if its not done right, you will look like you got punched in the face.

PLus there are little details you have to watch for when doing the look, and many different shades so it doesnt look all black :)
I found the way to get this look is to use a dark eye shadow and make a little bit go a long way. Put a little bit on a brush applicator and apply all over the top lid. Then use a little shadow applicator and go under the eye back and forth. I use a dark grey shadow. The key is to not go too heavy.
    this is a great tutorial

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=I0NkeFxTX8鈥?/a>
Prep the lid. The key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes on is to kept eyelids oil-free. To do this start with an eyeshadow base.

Apply eyeliner. If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye

Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smoky eye look) you'll want a lighter eyeliner. The key is to ';smudge it.'; You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.

Apply light base color Again, the key to a smoky eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone. favorite colors are taupe and pearl. Stop deep color at crease

Doublecheck your work Make sure eyes match and blend color with a Q-tip if need be.

Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Good Luck :)
-Dust on a black or a DARK gray eye shadow, from the lashlines to the crease.

-Put on some eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner gives it a cleaner look. Pencil eyeliner gives it a more grungy look.

    -Curl your eyelashes.

-Apply a thickening, volumizing mascara. Swipe on an extra coat if desired.
Take a light shadow (cream/off white/white gold) for under your eyebrows, preferably something subtle and not to brash, then just try with a darker charcoal colour over your eyelids. Use the tip of your finger in circular motions to blend it out and make a nice 'smokey' meeting point for the dark and light shades. Think of it like when you'd do a chalk drawing as a kid and rub the different coloured chalks in together.

Finish it off with some black eyeliner, curl your eyelashes and whack on a bit of black mascara. Voila. Eventually you can use more colours and become more creative, but that's a bog standard way to get you started. I use the same colour as just below my eyebrows for across the lowest part of the lid and in the corner of my eye. Using it in the corner brightens and widens your eyes, and just using the dark shadow around the socket of your eye allows you to tone it down for more sophisticated occasions.

    Have fun!

How to get the smokey eye look?

Yeah, I need help with getting the smokey eye look. I have dark brown, almost black, hair and green eyes and fair skin. Every time I try to do it myself it ends up looking goth-ish, which i don't want, i just want it to look subtle and sexy. I don't know if i'm applying it the completely wrong way or maybe im using the wrong colors, i'm not sure. So i need someone who knows a lot about makeup to help me on this... Thanks a whole bunch!!!How to get the smokey eye look?
im going to be a makeup artist so i deffinetley can help you with this...add grey eyeshadow on first then add black on your top eyelash line..then add a very small amout of black eyeshadow to the whole eyelid and put some eyeliner on the bottom lash line. that should give you the smokey eye lookHow to get the smokey eye look?
since your pale, try a dark brown or grey color instead of black, it probably contrasts too much with your skin.

if you shop at sephora, they have kits with everything you need and even a little booklet, if you go into a store they can even do it for you!

but idk if the kit comes wih different colors, but the pros at sephora can definatley help!
use dark eyeshadow (like brown) on the creases of your eyes and then fade in to a light color (like light tan) when you get right before your eyelashes. they usually have eyeshadow at like target with both of those colors, and it shows you how to on the back of the container.

How do you create a smokey eye look?

and what color should I use to create it?How do you create a smokey eye look?
ok, i asked this question b4 and this is my fave answer it works pefectly!! :D

First you need to apply foundation to your eyelids. This creates a flat smooth base for your eyeshadow to sit on and also acts as a base to hold it in place. Starting with dark eyeliner, smudge a line across your top lash line. It doesn't have to be neat as you will be blending it into your eyeshadow colour anyway. Next, using a dark coloured shadow (purples for brown eyes, maroons for blue eyes, greys for green eyes), use an eyeshadow brush to cover the lid in dark, pigmented colour. Colour all the way up to the crease and blend into your eyeliner. Next, using a medium shade, blend a small amount of colour into your eye crease and up just slightly, so when you look into the mirror with your eyes open, you can just see the colour starting to creep upwards towards your brows. Now, using a highlighter in a complementary colour or even just a gold dust, apply to the brow bone and then blend into your medium based middle colour.

Next, brush away any eyeshadow dust that has fallen below your lashes. A makeup artist trick is to apply your eye makeup before you do the rest of your face so you can clear off all the bits that have fallen below your lashes without ruining your prior handiwork. Now you need to curl your lashes and apply lashings of black mascara. Once your mascara has dried, whip out the eyeliner and line your lower lashes. You can be quite heavy handed with your eyeliner as you are making your eyes the focus of your face. Using a small eyeshadow brush, smudge your eyeliner.

The rest of your face needs to be very subtle to balance the amount of eye makeup, so go with a light hydrating foundation, a peachy blush and a natural pink lip gloss. Your eyes will be a little high maintenance, so every now and then nip into the bathroom and check you haven't smudged them. Keep some makeup remover wipes in your bag just in case you have any probs so you can easily tidy them up.How do you create a smokey eye look?
I like going to the MAC Cosmedics website. They have all kinds of examples- even written directions. And my special tool is a Q- tip.

    http://kevynaucoin.com/lessons/?vanessa
Well I am a Makeup artist and just to let you know the Smoky Eye look is IN right now. I love doing the smoky eye look and the best way instead of wearing all black is to do the same preperation just use color from pink to blue, just make sure you cordinate with the outfit. Try that and I will bet you will try it again and again. I just dont like using black alot.

DO NOT PUT ON THE INNER RIM IF U DO IT WILL BE SOME CONSEQUENCES.

    USE A SMUDGER PENCIL.

If you do this look make sure, you with use eye liner in pencil or liquid you can get that in color also.

    If you eyes are: Blue

Try: Brown and rose. Warm shades contrast the coolness of blue eyes, making them stand out. Apply from lashlines to creases and top with black mascara.

    If you eyes are: Brown

Try: Green and gold. Both shades will pick up the colored flecks found in brown eyes. Choose a slightly shimmer texture, and apply from lashlines to browbones, blending well.

    If you eyes are: Green

Try: Lavender and mocha. Purple shades contrast your color, making eyes look dramatic; warmer shades of mocha complement green, giving a natural effect. Wear mocha for day, lavender for night, and top both with brown mascara.

    If you eyes are: Hazel

Try: Deep green and pale yellow. Depending on your mood, choose a shadow shade that matches different flecks in your eyes. For a twist, apply shadow, then line eyes with the same color, using a liner brush dipped in water.

Anyone-Can-Wear-'Em-Shades: Charcoal, chocolate, black. (Tip: Since they can look heavy on the lid, use these colors as liners to complement any shadow hue.)

To apply pencil liner precisely, gently pull the outer corner of your eyes so your lashes make a straight line. Angle the tip of the pencil toward your lashes and lightly draw from inner to outer corner.

    I hope that works.
black shadow or liner and take a cotten ball or makeup wedge and smudge it
get brown %26amp; black eye shawdow.

    step one.

put the brown shimmery eyeshadow on. from your eyelashed to your brow line. (i like to dip my eye shawdow brush in water then put the shadow on) it keeps it on longer an gives it a prettier look.

    step two.

take black eye shadow an use a pointy eye shadow brush. out the shadow on the brush (you can also use the water ideal too) an but it on the edge were your eye %26amp; eyelashes meet. it gives it that smugy black, smokey eye look ( you can put a little black or alot depends how you like it)

    step three

take mascara, an put alot of that on. on top of your lashes an bottom lashes.

    step four

take black eye liner pencile an put in on the bottom part or you eye. If you dont know how to do this you may want to ask someone to show you, or help you the first time cuz its kind of difficult.

good luck, but remeber dont over do it for the first time, If this is the first time wearing black eye shawdow. cuz people will notice. an have something to say. gradully put more %26amp; more on. never ever start with tooo much.

No matter where you get directions from, it takes practice. Just start out small and work your way up. Try by using black eyeliner, take your time and go slow. Then work with atleast 2 shades, black and any other color you want (shimmers look best). Just start blending and have fun with it, the more you practice, the better it will look.

You can actually get a lot of good advice by going to a department store make-up counter. Ask your friends what stores have really good make-up people. It's polite to at least buy a little stuff in exchange for the time and coaching.

what eye shadow do i use?

how should i apply it?How do I get the smokey eye look?
you can use any colour you want but most people think smoky eye is all about black and grey.

make sure you have three different shades of the same colour, a highlight, lid colour and one for the outer corner of your eye.

using a brush, put some of your highlight colour just under your brow and inner corner of your eye. using a different brush, fill your whole lid with the second colour. and again, using another brush, dab some of the contour colour in a sideways 'V' on the outer corner of your eye. Blend. You can also put some eyeshadow on your lower lash line. Finish off with a similar coloured eyeliner, curl your lashes and mascara. How do I get the smokey eye look?
I can take you through it step by step:

first i assume that u have done foundation lips etc.

    1. line your eyes with a nice smudgy black eyeliner top and bottom, then with your finger or a q-tip smudge it so its not so midnight black and more charcoal and soft

    2. take a nice black shadow (i like mine to have a little bit of sparkle in it but thats just me) and with a brush sweep it just above your upper lid so when your eye is open you can see the very top of it

    3. then with the same shadow brush it in a wing toward your brow from your outer corner like this http://i15.ebayimg.com/05/s/06/fa/33/9f_鈥?/a>

    4. then use the biggest lengthening mascara and apply it to your outer lashes for an exotic look
I literally just watched a great video about smokey eyes on MakeupGeek.

How do i get that smokey eye look?

I have seen girls with the grey and black eye shadow that makes their eyes look smokey, how do i go about doing that?

I dont want it to be over-done. but i want it to be noticable. How do i get that smokey eye look?
first apply thin eyeliner around your eyes, then blend it with dark shadow,it could be black,Grey, brown or anything so dark, start from the angels thicker and thinner to the inner and apply little on the down side of eyes, then use a lighter and shiny shadow on the top through your eyebrow line to the edgesHow do i get that smokey eye look?
There's this new product by Revlon called ';Bedroom Eyes'; and all you do is apply around the eyes and smooth out with the applicator. Other than that, I just lightly dampen a q-tip and smudge lightly (this technique I think works best with crayon eyeliner) Report Abuse

If you want a more subtle smokey eye, try using browns instead! I often pair cream %26amp; brown, silver %26amp; black, or cream %26amp; black to create a smokey eye that matches the occasion or my mood. : )

    Here's a step by step instruction: http://beauty.about.com/od/allaboutyoure鈥?/a>

    As far as brands...

I love MAC eyeshadows, they work great! (You can buy them online, in the MAC store, or at their counter in department stores)

I also like bare minerals... http://www.bareminerals.com/

    (can be purchased at Sephora.com)
Try this website; it has really great makeup tips, especially the section on smokey eyes.

    http://www.makeupsense.com/eyes/smoky-ey鈥?/a>

There was only one thing I think that was left out, which is the preparation of the eye prior to application. I find that using a primer on the lid and below the eye (or just a little foundation and then powder) helps keep the makeup in place. No one wants a smokey raccoon eye!
I have seen on a tv show once they used a dark to medium grey eye shadow on the whole lid then a bit lighter grey where it comes just above the eye, it blends to a nice smokey color. How much you use, however, you have to experiment with the colors to get it to how you like. I do not wear eye makeup much due to sensitivity but it looks very pretty on ladies that can wear it.

Do not apply too much of the dark as the light will go on over the dark. If it is too dark the effect will not look right.
Use an eye primer, fix your eye makeup as usual but in crease add more color. This will give a dramatic effect.Remember eyeliner. On top of lid get it as close to eyelid as possible and as thin as possible.Bottom of eye-only go halfway.Use a black mascara.I offer instructional glamour appointments.Look me up!
There is this color called moondance @ www.angelfaceminerals.com. It gives a great smoky eye effect but not too dramatic.
Well, start off by getting a color of eyeshadow that is kinda dark, or pick a shade that your comfortable with. Then take and eyeshadow brush and upply to your upper lid as dark as you like. If you really wanna go for a dramatic look, take an eyeliner brush and apply a little eyeshadow to your lower lid, where you would normally apply eyeliner, and you'll be on your way!

    Hope this helps!
The thing with wearing that kind of eye makeup is that unless you do it frequently it will look over done.. When nobody is used to seeing you look like that they may think its odd... Either way, buy a thick black eye liner, maybe one that has little sparkles in it...I prefer wet eyeshadow...like the cover girl kind with the circles...there are four different shades, you want to take the darkest shades and start at your lashes...go lighter as you get farther away from your eyes... go heavy on the eye liner and get a thickening black mascara
eyelash curler, mascara, eyeliner, and three different shades of eyeshadow...lightest shade near the brow
put on a neutral eyeshadow (preferably a bit shimmery) on your top lid to start, and follow with a grey colour on the outer corners of your eyes. then very carefully trace kohl around your eye, and smudge it with a q-tip into your eyelashes. put on two coats of a mascara and don't let it dry between coats. try rimmel's lash extender or eye magnifier mascara. =]]

How do you create a smokey eye look?

I need to know how to create a smokey eye look for a party!

Thanks :DHow do you create a smokey eye look?
Piss off your boy friendHow do you create a smokey eye look?
first off find a good mosterizer to apply all over face and lids!

-If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye.

-Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smokey eye look) you'll want a lighter eyeliner. The key is to ';smudge it.'; You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.

-Apply light base color Again, the key to a smokey eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. I prefer a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone

-Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease.

-Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Tried and true mascaras

    -good luck and have fun!
There are a few ways to achieve this look -

    1. Apply Mac's Blackground paintpot to the lid. Rimmel London do a black mousse which is pretty good if you are on a budget

    2. Line your eyes with black kohl pencil and smudge with a cotton wool bud/q-tip

    3. Buy a black eye shadow and apply to the lid. If you are on a budget, Sleek do a great eye shadow palette which includes a really pigmented black shadow. Alternatively, Mac do one called Carbon. It retails at 拢11.50 but lasts for ages

    Hope I helped :)
have a line of eyeliner on your lid and use your finger to smear it lightly across the rim of your lid.

  • How do you apply eyeliner to make your eye look more pretty?

I want eyeliner that makes my eyes maybe look BIGGER and PRETTIER...because i have pretty eyes, but i dont think im using my eyeliner to the best of my abitilty. I have dark brown eyes if that helps. Please give me some advice! How do you apply eyeliner to make your eye look more pretty?
I like to apply just a thin, THIN line of liquid eyeliner to my top lid.

If your not the best with liquid liner, I pull the corner of my eye, so its flat, and if one line is too difficult, try small short strokes to form a long one.

    It takes practice;)

I also use pencil occasionally on inside of my bottom lid, and the corner of my top. the problem with this is that through out the day it tends to fade. How do you apply eyeliner to make your eye look more pretty?
dont apply to much to your bottom lid and brown is a better color than black. you want to apply it as close as possible to your eyelash and on your upper lid you can use more eyeliner than your bottom lid. you want the look to be natural more like you have naturally full lashes rather than looking scary with too much
    use the right color!

i have dark brown eyes, too.

    you should try this:

    - put a little bit of white eyeliner,

maybe 1/4 of the way through your

bottom eyeliner from the outside directly

on your waterline. make it sharp + crisp and

don't let it go in your eyelashes!

    - use lengthening mascara and tightline (lift

your eyelashes and draw along the waterline

and root) with black eyeliner right above where

    the white went.

if neither of those, do a crisp dark purple / plum line.
wow the people above me do not know what theyre talking about..

since you have brown eyes.. DONT WEAR BROWN EYELINER..

actually purple is supposed to bring out brown the most, but I'd say maybe a pink base, and then use a tad of a purple eyeliner on the top and a little on the bottom, then fill in the inner circle with a fine black eyeliner.

    hope that made sense (:
I find the prettiest way to do it is to avoid applying it all the way round your eye, because dark colours on the inside of the eye makes them appear smaller.

Also, flick it out and up at the outside corners...

here's a pic of my eye to give you some idea lol

if u have dark eyes i would suggest black. if i was u id apply some to the top of my eye because thats what i do and it really brings out my eyes

    i love it
You can wear black, dark plum, or dark brown eyeliner. Apply it in a thin line above your lid; and use a pencil for the lower lid eyeliner.
You should try a smokey black eyeliner... Also, if you put the liner around your whole eye your eye will look BIGGER.. Kinda just circle around liquid or non liquid..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHpaacfDt鈥?/a>

There are a few videos on youtube.com that will show you step by step how to do the smokey eye look. I tried to find the ones that were similar to your colors, but you can always find others. How can I create a smokey eye look with these three eyeshadows?
    1. Take the medium taupe shade and apply it all over your eyelid.

    2. Next, apply the darkest shade as an eyeliner using an eyeliner brush, or, if you don't have one, use a dark brown eyeliner. (Note: If you use an eyeliner, make sure to smudge it with a Q-tip.) Trace it all the way along your top lashline, but thin it out towards the inner eye (the part closest to your nose). Make the line about medium thickness. Blend the dark eyeshadow into the medium shade on your lid so that there is no line separating the two colours.

    3. Apply the darkest shade (that you also used as the eyeliner) into the crease of your eye. Blend!

    4. Take the darkest shade again and apply a little on your bottom lash line as an eyeliner. Only apply it about halfway in from your outer corner. Smudge this well with a Q-tip to make it a softer line.

    5. Finally, take the lightest shade and apply this on your browbone 9however, I usually skip this step, because it ends up looking like too much makeup!) You can also dab some in the inner corner of your eye to brighten your look.

I hope this helped, and good luck!
nottt true! you can make a smokey eye, but it wont be QUITE as 'smokey' as if you used darker colors, but whatever. sweep the medium shade over your lid. line your eyes with brown eyeliner (top and bottom). on the top, draw the line thicker as you get farther out. use the lightest color in the inner corner of your eyes. use the darkest shade in the outer corner corners of your eyes. this will take a while, and you may have to experiment, but those shades should work fine =]
i would take the lightest one and put that all over

then take the one on the right (darkest brown) from lashes to crease and along your bottom lashes

now the one on the left, (middle brown) put a bit along the crease and blend that into the darkest and lightest so that it won't look choppy

finish it up with eyeliner and mascara
You cant. its called a smokey eye because you use black, gray, and white.
you should use black... grays....and some bronzes/metallics.... you cant just use 3 shades of brown.....

Layer the lightest shade you have first! If you start dark its going to turn out zombie-looking. If you have a nude color, put that all over your lid. After that put some black eyeliner close to your eyelashes top and bottom. Blend in the black eyeshadow but make sure you're not going too dark. If you have a white-ish grey put a little of that in the crease.

Do NOT put the black all over your eye! Keep it below the crease, or it will look horrible.
    just look it up!

Hey I use Bare Escentuals Tutorials - Lesson 1: Smoky Eye its great and simple the brush is designed to make it easy you can get it for a good price on ebay
well the key is to blend the main color on the lids than use a tone lighter than the first color and blend in right above the darker color. blend out the harsh lines and that's it.
    go to youtube
ok first put on black eyeliner all around your eyes and smudge it a little bit, then put either dark blue or black eyeshadow on your eyelids and don't be really neat with it, but also don't look like you just got in a fight with a makeup bag, you know?

    hope that helped.

Do certain eye colors make your eyes look larger?

I'm thinking of getting colored contacts and was just wondering. Could it be brown, cuz I've heard people say ';big brown eyes'; more than any other color.Do certain eye colors make your eyes look larger?
no...its the shape of ur eye that determines it size, not colorDo certain eye colors make your eyes look larger?
No way, your eyes are gorgeus
    I don't know Hazle maybe...
I have brown and I'm told that a lot but my little girl has huge blue eyes and people also tell her how big her eyes are.
No, the color of your eyes doesn't make your eyes look bigger or smaller. The shape of your eyes do and how you apply make-up also can make them look bigger. When putting on eye shadow, stick to the color that matches your eyes and don't use any make-up that defines the boundaries of your eyes (e.g., eye liner).
I dont think any color makes you eyes look bigger they just make your eyes stand out a lot more!

How to do the Smokey eye Look? Everytime I do it, it looks like I have a black eye.?

I Don't have a Smudge brush, so is their an easier way to achieve the smokey eye look?

10 for the best. How to do the Smokey eye Look? Everytime I do it, it looks like I have a black eye.?
You don't necessarily need to have a smudge brush. You just need a eye shadow brush but the key thing is that you need to know how to blend the colors. If it looks like a black eye, try to do the smoky eye with less harsh colors. I did it once with gray and blue for a Christmas party and everyone loved it! You can also do a purple smoky eye which looks amazing. Don't give up.

Another thing you can do is to Google web tutorials on smoky eyes. There are so many out there that help you a lot with basic step by step instructions.

    Hope that helps!

    heres how i do mine:

1.. Use a light (skin toned) colour all over the eye- lashes to brow.

    2. Use a black eyeliner and use just above the lashes- doesn鈥檛 matter too much if it鈥榮 a bit messy.

    3. Use a cotton bud with a dark eyeshadow on it and go over the eyeliner- making it smudgy.

    4. Line under the bottom lashes with a pencil eyeliner and smudge using a clean cotton bud.

    5. Use a middle toned eyeshadow (an in-between colour of the ones using) and go over the lid of your eye and just up to the brow bone or just above the crease- which ever you like better.

    6. Blend or smudge the middle colour upwards into the lighter colour- just the top edge of the middle colour so you still have colour on your lid.

    7. Use mascara- and don鈥檛 forget eyelash curler first- apply mascara to the bottom aswell-if you want.

use ur finger, cotton bud (or a clean make up) to help smudge it

You don鈥檛 have to stick to the traditional black colour- you could go for greys, browns, plum and even blue as long as you create the smokey eye effect- smudging! But here's how i do mine:

The key to the perfect smoky eye is proper blending. You want to make sure colors are blended together flawlessly. Also, it's important to pair light base colors with rich dark colors. Nice mixes include: Soft gold base with deep purple on top, champagne base with bright blue %26amp; peach base with green hue.

Prep the lid. The key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes on is to kept eyelids oil-free. To do this start with an eyeshadow base.

Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smokey eye look) you'll want a lighter eyeliner %26amp; the key is to 'smudge it'. You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.

Apply light base color Again, the key to a smoky eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. I prefer a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone. I love Stila's whipped eye shadows $20. The moist 'mousse' consistency seems to stay on forever. My favorite colors are taupe %26amp; pearl.

Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease. Now that you have the base %26amp; eyeliner on, it's time to get the smoky effect. You need a darker eyeshadow shade. Using an eyeshadow brush blend in color starting at your lash line %26amp; blending up. Make sure to blend color into the lash line so the eye liner disappears. Stop deep color at crease.

Doublecheck your work Make sure eyes match %26amp; blend color with a Q-tip if need be.

Finish with several coats of volumnizing mascara. Tried %26amp; true mascaras (featured in 'Elle' magazine's March 2006 issue) include DiorShow Mascara %26amp; L'Oreal Paris Volume Shocking Mascara. 'Elle's writer says they are the best volumnizers she's tried.

Remember to keep lips nude. When applying strong makeup (like smoky eyes or red lips) put the focus on either eyes or lips, never both. (Think Angelina Jolie: She either plays up her huge eyes or her huge lips, never both. If she did, she'd look like a clown).

For a bit of fun, try a blue or purple mascara.

How to do the smokey eye look without looking like you've just put eyeliner all round your eyes!?

Step by step guide please! How to do the smokey eye look without looking like you've just put eyeliner all round your eyes!?
The key is more shadow and less liner; and lots of blending and smudging! That's the real beauty of the smoky eye--to look wild and carefree. Also, if you are a fair person, sometimes darker colors don't look very good--the contrast is too stark. Other alternatives are blue, green, or purple--these colors look stunning without being overwhelming.

And it also depends on how you are doing the smoky eye look: depending on the your eye crease, sometimes it is better to just line the top lashes OR just the bottom lashes. Another option is to line half of each. How to do the smokey eye look without looking like you've just put eyeliner all round your eyes!?
1 - Apply Primer or Powder to lid so makeup will last.

2 - Apply a thin line of eyeliner as close to your lash line as possible (make sure pencil is sharp), both top and bottom. I like to use a waterproof pencil.

3 - Smudge with your clean ring finger or a q-tip.

4 - Add more liner, smudge again, keep doing this until you have reached your desired smokiness - obviously less smoky for day.

5 - Add a powder eyeshadow over the liner in the same color to make it last longer and to soften the look. Blend outward - but not too much on the bottom.

6 - If evening, add the eyeshadow up to your crease, blending out as you go - the makeup will be darkest at your lash line and will fade or ';smoke'; out as it goes up your lid.

7 - add a shimmer color to the brow bone and the inside corner of the eye to make it pop.

8 - Load up with black mascara especially on the top lashes. For extra special occasions, add false lashes.

9 - Comb and fill in your brows if they need it, nothing ruins a great smoky look like unkempt brows.

10 - Remove any powder ';fall out'; that happened under your eye, now use concealer or foundation.

Experiment with different colors, smoky does not always have to be black. Blue eyes look great with a bronzy brown, Brown eyes with a deep purple or army green.

    Practice and have fun!
