What does a sty in your eye look like?

My daughter has a large red lump on her eyelid. This morning she woke up and her whole eyelid is swollen up. She looks like someone punched her. Besides ice is there anything else we can do for it?What does a sty in your eye look like?
I think she needs and antibiotic. Go to the doctor and let him examine her. What does a sty in your eye look like?
Forget the ice. Get a washcloth, as hot as she can stand it and leave it on for 5 minutes or so. The sty will come to a head and leak out pus eventually. Just keep doing this until it is resolved.

A sty looks like a big red bump, or sometimes a big pimple.
It sounds more like she was bit by a spider or some other insect. A sty is in the corner of the eye itself and is a very tiny pimple that does itch. It will cause the eye to become red and even partly close.

I would check with my doctor if I were you. Neve delay when it's something about the eye.
Here is treatment for sty until your daughter see a doctor

Typical treatment for a sty consists of applying warm compresses to the affected eye for 10 to 15 minutes four times daily for several days. This not only relieves pain and inflammation but also helps the sty ripen faster. Be sure to close your eye while you apply the compresses. When the sty comes to a head, continue applying warm compresses to relieve pressure and promote rupture. Do not squeeze the sty. Let it burst on its own

It's basically a zit of the eyelid. It would be better to try a wet, warm washcloth to get it to the surface.
The swelling is an aftereffect of the lump, which is an infection of the one of the sebaceous glands along the eyelid. I would try hot compresses rather than ice. If it doesn't look better by Monday, take her to the doctor. Some antibiotic eye drops or antibiotic salve may be needed.
Boric acid solution.

And actually ice is the wrong remedy. Try a warm or hot compress. They tend to loosen it up and reduce the swelling.
That's a typical sty, a reddened enlargement on the eyelid.

Try ice and some eyedrops if the eye is irritated. It CAN be an infection too, so better see a doc.

ONE other thing, if it does ripen like a zit, don't get the pus guck IN the eye itself.

Okay, everybody says ice is bad for it, but if it is a bug bite, it could help reduce the swelling and discomfort.

A bump go to a surgeon.
I believe that styes are usually on the brim of either eyelid (not usually on the actual eyelid itself). This could be a spider or bug bite. Styes don't usually swell, either. Ice it, and see if it goes down. If it doesn't, I would call her pediatrician ASAP.
