Does it change colour? Does the pupil change size? Does the eye stay in one position or is it still able to be moved? What does an eye look like after optic nerve damage?
If the damage is just to the optic nerve itself then the eye will look exactly the same on the outside. It will not affect the colour of the iris, the pupil size or its ability to move. The only way optic nerve damage can be usually seen is by looking throught the pupil using an ophthalmoscope or slit lamp bimicroscopy to look at the nerve at the back of the eye
