How do i get that smokey eye look?

I have seen girls with the grey and black eye shadow that makes their eyes look smokey, how do i go about doing that?

I dont want it to be over-done. but i want it to be noticable. How do i get that smokey eye look?
first apply thin eyeliner around your eyes, then blend it with dark shadow,it could be black,Grey, brown or anything so dark, start from the angels thicker and thinner to the inner and apply little on the down side of eyes, then use a lighter and shiny shadow on the top through your eyebrow line to the edgesHow do i get that smokey eye look?
There's this new product by Revlon called ';Bedroom Eyes'; and all you do is apply around the eyes and smooth out with the applicator. Other than that, I just lightly dampen a q-tip and smudge lightly (this technique I think works best with crayon eyeliner) Report Abuse

If you want a more subtle smokey eye, try using browns instead! I often pair cream %26amp; brown, silver %26amp; black, or cream %26amp; black to create a smokey eye that matches the occasion or my mood. : )

Here's a step by step instruction: http://beauty.about.com/od/allaboutyoure鈥?/a>

As far as brands...

I love MAC eyeshadows, they work great! (You can buy them online, in the MAC store, or at their counter in department stores)

I also like bare minerals... http://www.bareminerals.com/

(can be purchased at Sephora.com)
Try this website; it has really great makeup tips, especially the section on smokey eyes.

There was only one thing I think that was left out, which is the preparation of the eye prior to application. I find that using a primer on the lid and below the eye (or just a little foundation and then powder) helps keep the makeup in place. No one wants a smokey raccoon eye!
I have seen on a tv show once they used a dark to medium grey eye shadow on the whole lid then a bit lighter grey where it comes just above the eye, it blends to a nice smokey color. How much you use, however, you have to experiment with the colors to get it to how you like. I do not wear eye makeup much due to sensitivity but it looks very pretty on ladies that can wear it.

Do not apply too much of the dark as the light will go on over the dark. If it is too dark the effect will not look right.
Use an eye primer, fix your eye makeup as usual but in crease add more color. This will give a dramatic effect.Remember eyeliner. On top of lid get it as close to eyelid as possible and as thin as possible.Bottom of eye-only go halfway.Use a black mascara.I offer instructional glamour appointments.Look me up!
There is this color called moondance @ www.angelfaceminerals.com. It gives a great smoky eye effect but not too dramatic.
Well, start off by getting a color of eyeshadow that is kinda dark, or pick a shade that your comfortable with. Then take and eyeshadow brush and upply to your upper lid as dark as you like. If you really wanna go for a dramatic look, take an eyeliner brush and apply a little eyeshadow to your lower lid, where you would normally apply eyeliner, and you'll be on your way!

Hope this helps!
The thing with wearing that kind of eye makeup is that unless you do it frequently it will look over done.. When nobody is used to seeing you look like that they may think its odd... Either way, buy a thick black eye liner, maybe one that has little sparkles in it...I prefer wet eyeshadow...like the cover girl kind with the circles...there are four different shades, you want to take the darkest shades and start at your lashes...go lighter as you get farther away from your eyes... go heavy on the eye liner and get a thickening black mascara
eyelash curler, mascara, eyeliner, and three different shades of eyeshadow...lightest shade near the brow
put on a neutral eyeshadow (preferably a bit shimmery) on your top lid to start, and follow with a grey colour on the outer corners of your eyes. then very carefully trace kohl around your eye, and smudge it with a q-tip into your eyelashes. put on two coats of a mascara and don't let it dry between coats. try rimmel's lash extender or eye magnifier mascara. =]]
